Citizens are warned about a scam website frozenspirety.info, which makes an unauthorised use of visual elements of government institutions and falsely claims to be the official website of the Croatian National Bank. The website promotes a “National Financial Access Programme (NFAP)” which bears no links with the Croatian National Bank or any government institution.
The scam website offers citizens participation in an alleged governmental programme that is claimed to be supported by a EUR 2bn worth "national guarantee fund" and invites them to apply to participate in the programme, with the minimum initial deposit set at EUR 250. The website also states that the number of applications is limited to 500 per county. The Croatian National Bank stresses that such a programme does not exist and that the information provided is not true.
Citizens are reminded that the appearance of the website is not a guarantee of its authenticity. Today, scammers can very convincingly imitate the visual identity of institutions, including logos, names, colours and other elements of official websites.
It is especially important to check the internet address (domain) of the page you are visiting. The official website of the Croatian National Bank is available exclusively at www.hnb.hr. If you notice a website that uses the name or identity of the CNB on other domains, it is a possible attempt at fraud. In the present case, the website concerned is located on the domain frozenspirety.info and has nothing to do with the Croatian National Bank.
Citizens should not open this website and should not enter any personal data or make any payments related to the mentioned programme. In case of suspected online fraud, citizens should check the information through the official channels of the institutions and competent authorities.
