At its session today, the Council of the Croatian National Bank was informed about current economic, monetary and financial developments in the euro area and Croatia, discussed the financial and banking sector and adopted several decisions within its competence.
In 2024, 19 banks and one housing savings bank operated in the Republic of Croatia, the same as at the end of 2023. Their total assets increased by EUR 5.6 billion (7.1%) compared to the previous year, to the amount of EUR 84.2 billion, mostly influenced by the inflow of deposits. Total loans increased by EUR 5.7 billion (12.7%), and the increase in loans was mostly directed to the financial sectors and households, based on increased general-purpose cash loans. The growth of housing and corporate loans also continued.
The CNB Council granted approval to the Supervisory Board of OTP banka d.d. for Slaven Celić to serve as a member of the Management Board of that bank, as well as to the Supervisory Board of Wüstenrot stambena štedionica d.d. for Boris Zadro to serve as a member of the Management Board of that savings bank.
The members of the Council adopted the Decision on the issuance of gold and silver numismatic coins "Marija Jurić Zagorka" from the series of numismatic coins "Croatian Literature", with commemorative motifs featuring the portrait of Marija Jurić Zagorka, the first Croatian journalist and one of the most widely read writers in Croatia, whose work is an important part of the cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia. The gold numismatic coin is issued in the 100 euro denomination and the silver numismatic coin is issued in the 4 euro denomination.
