IMF delegation, headed by Dimitri Demekas arrived in Croatia yesterday, to resume its talks with the Croatian authorities concerning Croatia's further co-operation with this financial institution.
Judging from the opening meeting that the IMF delegation had with Governor Rohatinski and his associates at the central bank on Tuesday, the focal point of discussions to be held with the Croatian authorities during the next week will include public sector deficit financing, projections of government and public enterprise foreign and domestic borrowing and public and total external debt to GDP ratio stabilisation.
These and other topics that will be discussed with the Croatian authorities during the delegation's stay in Croatia are related to the negotiations in connection with the possible conclusion of a new stand-by arrangement, that Croatia needs, not because of the funding provided by it but because the arrangement can provide international confirmation of the country's economic and financial policies.
