The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr Kemal Kozarić, with his associates visited today the Croatian National Bank. At the meeting with the CNB Governor, Dr Željko Rohatinski, and his associates, the guests from the neighbouring country exchanged information on the current economic and financial developments, as well as the situation in the banking system in the two countries, the impact of the global financial and economic crisis on these developments and on monetary policy measures used by these central banks in an attempt to mitigate the extent of the crisis and its consequences.
In view of both historical and present close economic relations between the two countries and the fact that these are small and import-oriented economies, that the majority of banks in both countries are in foreign ownership of mostly the same owners, as well as other comparable factors, a great similarity in the assessments, current problems and limitations faced by these central banks is understandable.
Accordingly, a continuation of a more intense co-operation concerning the issues of mutual interest was agreed on this occasion, including the exchange of information on the situation in the banking system and experience in the analysis of financial stability and risk management, promotion of continuation of succession in the field of financial legacy of the former common state, etc. Conclusion of the announced agreement on technical co-operation and understanding should also contribute to a better future co-operation.
