In cooperation with the Croatian Monetary Institute, the Croatian National Bank issued a commemorative silver coin marking the 300th birth anniversary of Ruđer Josip Bošković, a Jesuit, astronomer, geodesist, mathematician, diplomat and philosopher, and one of the most prominent scientists of his time.
Minted in proof quality, the coin was released for sale on 23 December 2011.

The Decision on the issue and sale of the commemorative silver coin "300th anniversary of the birth of Ruđer Josip Bošković" was published in the Official Gazette No. 148/2011 and 109/2017.
The design of the obverse of the silver coin is by the sculptor Stjepan Divković and the design of the reverse is by the sculptor Damir Mataušić.
This issue was minted by the Croatian Monetary Institute.
The Croatian National Bank has contractually agreed to undertake the promotion and sale of this issue with the Croatian Monetary Institute.
