Financial sector (financial institutions sector) comprises monetary financial institutions (MFIs), other financial institutions, insurance corporations and pension funds. Monetary financial institutions include the central bank (Croatian National Bank, CNB) and other monetary financial institutions (OMFIs), that is credit institutions and money market funds. Credit institutions (banks, savings banks, and housing savings banks) are financial institutions licensed by the CNB in accordance with the Credit Institutions Act. Other financial institutions include investment funds other than money market funds, other financial intermediaries, auxiliary financial institutions (such as SKDD, Hanfa and Fina) and the so-called captive financial institutions and money lenders.
