The Croatian National Bank today hosted a lecture honouring the first Governor of the independent Croatian National Bank and first Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Ireland, late Dr. Ante Čičin-Šain. This lecture, the fourth in the series of lectures organised by the Irish Croatian Business Association and hosted alternatively by the Croatian and Irish central banks, dealt with the role of the parliament and public media in the emergence and overcoming of the current financial crisis.
The lecture, based on the Irish experience, was delivered by Dr. Maurice Manning, the Chancellor of the National University of Ireland and President of the Irish Human Rights Commission. A response address was given by Mr. Emil Tedeschi, the Honorary Consul of Ireland to Croatia and Chairman of the Management Board of Atlantic grupa d.d. An address was also delivered by Mr. Gerard Danaher, the Honorary Consul of Croatia to Ireland. In addition to a large number of economists and representatives of business and political circles, the lecture was also attended by the Ambassador of Ireland, Mr. Patrick McCabe.
