CNB issues "Dražen Petrović" gold and silver numismatic coins

The Croatian National Bank issues "Dražen Petrović" gold and silver numismatic coins to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the birth of Dražen Petrović, who left a significant mark in European and world basketball. The gold coins are issued in the 200 and 100 euro denominations and the silver coins are issued in the 8, 6 and 4 euro denominations.

The gold coin and silver coin designs are by the sculptor Nikola Vudrag. The author's design on the reverse of the coin features the motif of a ball in the basketball hoop, the symbol of many of Dražen's scores, while the obverse of the coin features Dražen in basketball action, which Croatian and world audience loved to watch so much.

"Dražen Petrović" gold and silver numismatic coins are released for sale on 5 September 2024. The issued quantity of gold numismatic coins of EUR 200 is limited at 60 pieces and the issued quantity of gold numismatic coins of EUR 100 is limited at 500 pieces. The issued quantity of silver numismatic coins of EUR 8 is limited at 1,000 pieces, that of the EUR 6 silver coin at 2,000 pieces, and that of the EUR 4 silver coin at 4,000 pieces.

The numismatic coins will be sold by the Croatian Mint. The initial selling price for the EUR 200 gold coin is expected to range around EUR 9,950.00 and that for the EUR 100 gold coin around EUR 2,950.00. The selling price for the EUR 8 silver numismatic coin is expected to range around EUR 400.00 with VAT, for the EUR 6 silver coin around EUR 160.00 with VAT and for the EUR 4 silver coin around EUR 80.00 with VAT. The selling price at the time of purchase will depend on the movement in the price of gold and silver in the open market.
