The Croatian National Bank organised today the Open Door Day of Moneterra – The Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank, during which a large number of citizens and children visited the money museum and participated in the special programme.
From 10.30 a.m., at Europski trg, visitors could see the exhibition entitled "The Journey of Money: from Printing Plate to Recycling", while Joško Lokas and Toni Milun presented the world of money and monetary policy. CNB Governor Boris Vujčić, Deputy Governor Sandra Švaljek and Moneterra Director Ines Merkl responded to questions posed by the visitors. The Governor and the Deputy Governor gave exceptionally attended lectures to interested students, who then inquired about the manner in which the monetary decisions of the European Central Bank are adopted, the digital euro project and the future of money and finance.
During Monetarra’s Open Door Day, guided tours were organised, where visitors learned about money, banking, personal finance, monetary policy and the role and tasks of central banks through exhibits, video content, exploration and games in a simple, modern and inspiring manner.
The youngest visitors and primary school pupils learned about money through a fun story and play at several workshops for children.
“Surveys show that the financial knowledge of Croatian citizens is growing, but financial behaviour is lagging behind this knowledge. Therefore, Moneterra's main objective is to invite citizens, students and pupils to come and learn more about the history of money, the manner in which monetary policy is conducted, the financial system and modern means of payment, as well as risks related to financial decisions. Thus citizens could, among other things, easier recognise financial frauds and learn how to better use financial products,” said CNB Governor Boris Vujčić.
