CNB issues “Puratić Power Block” gold and silver coins

The Croatian National Bank has issued “Puratić Power Block” gold and silver collector coins as part of the “Croatian Inventors” collector coin series with the objective of promoting prominent historical, scientific and economic motifs in the Republic of Croatia and the world. Mario Puratić’s innovation, the so-called “Puratić Power Block”, revolutionised the world of fishing and enabled faster and more efficient hauling of fishing nets, reducing the physical effort of fishermen and increasing fishing productivity. The Puratić Power Block is recognized and appreciated all over the world, and has made an enormous contribution to global fishing community. It was patented by Puratić in 1954, and it has been used in Croatian fishing since 1963.

The design of the coins is by the sculptor Jelena Mavrić Varga.

The gold coin is issued in the 100 euro denomination, with the issued quantity limited at 100 pieces. The silver coin is issued in the 4 euro denomination, with the issued quantity limited at 1000 pieces.

The coins will be sold by the Croatian Mint. The initial selling price for the gold coin is expected to range around EUR 2,670.00 and the selling price for the silver coin is expected to range around EUR 55.99, VAT excluded. The selling price at the time of purchase will depend on the movement in the price of gold and silver in the open market.
