On January 15, 2002, the Croatian National Bank will put into circulation a new issue of the commemorative 25 kuna coin. Minted to mark an important anniversary of the Republic of Croatia, this issue is entitled: "10th Anniversary of the International Recognition of the Republic of Croatia, January 15, 1992 - January 15, 2002".
The seventh in a series of 25 kuna legal tender commemorative coin issues, this issue comprises 200,000 pieces. The coin is bi-metallic, shaped as a regular dodecagon.
The obverse of the legal tender commemorative coin shows the relief of the Republic of Croatia, crossed by slightly curved horizontal and vertical lines, symbolizing parallels and meridians of the planet Earth. This image is intended to represent the Republic of Croatia as an independent state on the globe. The inscription "10th Anniversary of the International Recognition of the Republic of Croatia" is circularly positioned along the edge of the coin. The reverse of this legal tender commemorative coin is identical to that of the previous six issues, displaying a marten and the coin's denomination.
The designer of the new commemorative coin is Mr. Damir Mataušić, an academy-trained sculptor.
