The Croatian National Bank issued a commemorative silver coin to mark the 500th anniversary of the birth of Juraj Julije Klović, a Croatian miniaturist, who made in his work a great contribution to Croatian and European fine art. Minted in proof quality, the coin was released for sale on 20 July 1998.
The image of Juraj Julije Klović featured on the coin is after a portrait made by El Greco in Naples around 1570.

The Decision on the issue and sale of the commemorative silver coin "500th anniversary of the birth of Juraj Julije Klović" was published in the Official Gazette No. 93/1998, 34/2010, 120/2010, 128/2012 and 109/2017.
The design of the silver coin is by the sculptor Kuzma Kovačić.
This issue was minted by the Croatian Mint.
