Non-performing loans

On 30 December 2023, the Act on the manner, conditions and procedure for the servicing and sale of claims came into force (OG 155/2023), regulating the rules of procedure for the buyers of claims and the providers of the service of servicing loans and other claims against consumers/borrowers before and after the sale of loans and other claims and the supervision of claims collection agencies. This Act provides a high level of protection of consumers/borrowers as it also regulates the rules for informing consumers about the sale of their loans and the rules for communicating with borrowers.

Within its competence under this act, the Croatian National Bank will license the providers of the service of servicing non-performing loans and supervise the work of entities engaged in the activity of selling and servicing claims, which will also contribute to a better consumer protection.
