“The digital euro is the response of the European Central Bank to evolving payment trends and a growing citizens’ propensity towards digital payments, offering an additional payment option to cash. The project of the digital euro is a comprehensive and free digital payment solution providing citizens with a public digital means of payment for all digital payments in the euro area. It should be noted that this project will strengthen and safeguard the resilience and the strategic autonomy of Europe”, noted CNB Governor Boris Vujčić in a presentation given today entitled “The monetary future of Europe – the digital euro” at the Traditional Conference of the Croatian Economic Association in Opatija.
