Mr. Zdravko Rogic, Deputy Governor of the Croatian National Bank, will be representing the Croatian central bank at the Bicentennial Celebration of the Banque de France to be held from May 29-May 30 2000 in Paris.
The central event of the Celebration will be the symposium entitled "Independence and Accountability: Developments in the Business of Central Banking", which will be attended by the highest French government officials and the most influential central bankers in the world. The lecture dedicated to development and role of the Banque de France will be followed by a comparative analysis of the most important central banks in the world, description of the role of the European central bank and the discussion on monetary policy strategies and tactics in globalized market environment. Another topic of the symposium will be the accountability of central bankers vis-a-vis public opinion, which includes transparency and relations with the political authorities, institutions, public in general and the media.
